Community Cottages
In March 2015 Shalom Court reduced its number of care beds from 42 to 36 to create the opportunity for community persons, young and old, in need of accommodation to rent 1-bedroom cottages short or long term.
This initiative has been welcomed by the Jewish and wider communities and the cottages are being utilised by visitors to Auckland, relatives and friends of the residents, new immigrants and persons whose circumstances require short-term relocation.
Expressions of interest to stay in a community cottage are considered on a case-by-case basis and rental amounts vary according to the number of persons staying and the services required.
